Latest TFT Announcement Confirms New Set 3 Champions?
The official theme for Set 3 was announced by Riot Games alongside a new game-altering mechanic. While they were disclosing Galaxies, they also featured images of two already confirmed classes, Star Guardians and Projects within the dev post. Each of these skin lines is incredibly popular and as noted in a previous article, the TFT team has many champions to draw from to make certain synergies.
Only Fiora, Poppy, Jinx and Shen have essentially been confirmed at this point, coming from the Teamfight Tactics 2020 announcement video. Is it conceivable, with the latest images used in Riot’s announcement, that more champions featured in each image will also feature in TFT Set 3? Below you can find a possible list of TFT Set 3 champions that may feature based on synergies.
Teamfight Tactics Set 3 Champions
Although the image featured in the Galaxies announcement is one that Riot had already constructed for the Star Guardian skin line, it cannot be a coincidence that out of the many artworks designed for the skins, they chose this one. None of the Champions shown are new to Teamfight Tactics, featuring in either Set 1 or Set 2, will they transition into Set 3 also?
Champions in the Picture:
- Miss Fortune
Known Star Guardian Set 3 Champion
With so many new champions and Poppy showed off earlier in the 2020 announcement, this synergy could potentially have eight different champions already. Presumably, if the development team sticks with what they have executed previously, the trait would consist of a 3/6/9 Champion combination. Which means at least one other champion may still be hidden out there. Possibly saving room for a multi-trait champion like we’ve seen with Lux and Qiyana.
Taking a look at all the applicable champions, there are a few interesting potential synergies within each over, if they adhere to past champions as they did from Set 1 to Set 2. Ahri, Syndra could potentially share traits, the same can be said with Ezreal and Miss Fortune or even Janna, Lulu and Soraka. I would assume the Star Guardian trait would provide benefits similar to that we see with Infernos currently due to the diverse range of AP and AD champions.
Another image that’s been reused from the Project skin line, but it may imply which champions of the Project line Riot are bringing in Set 3. The only champion from this line who would be earning their debut appearance in TFT would be Irelia. The other four would all be returning from the original Set.
Champions in the Picture:
Known Project Set 3 Champion
Riot may stretch this group to include similar champions thematically, however, if no other champions are added, the synergy will most likely be a 2/4 for this trait. That being said, the Project skin line still contains 12 different champions who might make it. Interestingly enough, Jinx features in this image but has been announced as one of the Odyssey Skin lines traits. This could mean that Jinx will take the trait bonus of Project and Odyssey making her the first Champion whos Origin and Class are potentially known.
As for possible synergies, the shown Project lineup could easily reuse past traits like Assassins or even Blademaster. Jinx sticks out as the odd one out of the bunch with the other four all being melee blade-wielding champions.
TFT Set 3 Pulsefire and Odyssey Champions
In the latest announcement on TFT Galaxies, only the above two skin lines featured, excluding the Odyssey and Pulsefire line. Both Odyssey Jinx and Pulsefire Shen appeared in the 2020 video which naturally broadens the number of possible known champions in Teamfight Tactics Set 3 considerably. Here are all the potential champions from each of those skin lines that may be included.
TFT Set 3 Odyssey Champions
TFT Set 3 Pulsefire Champions
- Twisted Fate
Many of the champions that feature in all the skins lines have made an appearance in Teamfight Tactics already, do you think that Riot confirmed TFT Set 3 champions or were the images used purely circumstantial? Confirmations will no doubt arrive soon, stay tuned to get all the latest Teamfight Tactics News and Guides.
